ABOUT BARRY HACKER

Barry Hacker is a Managing Director for Navigant Capital Advisors, LLC, the Corporate Finance practice of Navigant Consulting, Inc.  Mr. Hacker has more than 20 years consulting experience in transactions advisory and tax services.  He has extensive experience working with public and private companies in various industry sectors including financial services, technology,  communications, manufacturing and real estate.  

He has provided services including buy and sell-side advisory, margin enhancement, cost reduction including effective tax rate reduction, and cross-border M&A services.  Mr. Hacker’s experience includes holding a practice leadership position with a Big Four accounting firm and the development of new client services such as economic development consulting for business which are expanding, relocating or consolidating.  In this capacity, he has worked with U.S. and multinational companies to reduce capital expenditures through securing financial incentives from federal, state and local government authorities.  
He has extensive experience working with government economic incentives programs and was one of three founding leaders of the Business Incentives Practice for a Big Four Accounting firm.

In addition, has worked with corporate clients undergoing a reorganization under Chapter 11 of the U.S. bankruptcy code with respect to the tax treatment of proposed transactions.  For example, he worked with city of Oakland officials to design a cost-reduction program for a major US airline shortly after the September 11, 2001 disaster which severely affected the cost structure of US airlines.  This engagement required the development a long-term contract between the city and the airline which resulted in (1) increased revenues to the city and (2) reduced costs for the airline which permitted it to retain over 700 maintenance workers located at the facility in Oakland.  He has also worked on similar engagements for owners of movie theater chains.
